Ruth is an intern who is currently doing her internship at iHope Christian Care and Counseling. She is completing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University this year. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Charleston Southern University and is currently employed at MUSC Florence in Bruce Hall, Drug and Alcohol Detox Unit as a nurse. She has been a nurse for 23 years working in various areas throughout her nursing career. She is pursuing a counseling degree because she wants to help individuals with their mental and spiritual health, not just their physical health. She is currently a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
Ruth loves working with clients of all ages. She has experience working with children using play therapy as well as youth with art therapy. She particularly enjoys working with couples, helping them develop communication skills. She strongly believes that anyone can benefit from having someone to talk to about what is going on in their lives. She believes that God can make a difference in broken lives, and desires to help her clients see this.
Ruth and her husband live in Darlington with their 2 furry nosed four legged children. Her husband is the worship minister at Grace Baptist Church. One of her favorite ministry opportunities, as the wife of a minister, is Grace Kids, a children’s choir that puts on 2 productions a year. Seeing the confidence that children gain from the experience is one of her favorite things. She believes that learning to believe in God and themselves will follow them throughout their lives.
